We asked our KeyRiders about the horses that have been extra special to them, and we will celebrate them by posting about one on our blog and social media pages each day until Christmas. Get involved and vote for you favourite on our Facebook or Instagram!
10 Days to Christmas..
Gosh, by Shiwon Green
The obvious horse for me to pick is Gosh, my first ‘proper’ dressage horse who took me all the way from a very average Novice level rider to riding in the New Zealand team at the Olympic selection trials.
I bought Gosh as a 10 year old at Novice level. He was quirky, with a death defying spook, small and was by a TB out of a standardbred x arab x clyde mare – not exactly classic dressage lines!
What he did have was a heart the size of a lion – anything you asked of him, he gave a go. Together we went where I had never even dared dream. I’ve had more talented, better bred and better trained but nothing will come close to the star quality that this little chap had.
